I've been playing acoustic guitar and singing along with it for about 15 years. Maybe I'll record and post a song sometime, if I get the time. I also have a couple harmonicas (C and G), and just picked up a holder for them this week, so I can play it along with the guitar. I haven't spent much time practicing the harmonica, but since you can't hit a note that's out of key, it's pretty easy and really fun playing it with a guitar.

It would be fun if folks followed Voxx, Graham and Rita's lead in posting their music. Music is enjoyable for all. I'm not sure if I have anything to record with but I'll see. If so, I'll post a song or two.

I mostly play the piano, clarinet, and sing. Playing the piano is a very dear thing to me. I've dabbled in most wind instruments and the guitar as well.

I played piano for years through out grade school, and I still love to "play" when I'm at my Mom's (that's where my piano is). But, I'm really rusty! I've taught my older daughter the recorder and the keyboard, and started teaching my next two, as well. Yesterday, when I rearranged my room, I made a spot on one wall for my piano, so we can go get it sometime this year. My oldest daughter seems to have a knack for music, which I love. She will play around on the keyboard and teach herself songs for hours. My older three kids are in the children's choir at church, and are learning all the latin songs for Mass. They sing that around the house, a lot, which is great. I also have a Melissa & Doug 'band-in-a-box' that the littles bang around with, and the ever wonderful 'pots and wooden spoons' band . I would like to have a violin for the kids to learn, too. I've always wanted to learn to play.

I also have a Melissa & Doug 'band-in-a-box' that the littles bang around with, and the ever wonderful 'pots and wooden spoons' band . Children love playing in little ensembles or bands with triangles or maracas or little drums, with one or two older people playing a tune. It isn't hard to make or acquire a collection of such instruments and get them off the pots and pans. And it seems like a great way to help them practice self-control and cooperation, in addition to creativity and specifically musical skills. Children seem more willing to listen and obey instructions in a music group than normally, with music they seem to perceive the fruits of cooperation easily. Depending on their ages one probably has to let them periodically blow off steam and "explore" (randomly bang) their instruments however they want. You'd know more about that than I do.

Do you know Ants Marching by the Dave Matthews Band?

Vox, I drum too. So, this is kind of to derail into another thread, but what do you all think of this condemnation of rock music? I understand avoiding bad lyrics, but some have argued the drum beat is inherently worldly or something like that (this then seems to condemn drumming?). Ok but there are instrumental rock songs, so are those ok? Or what about rock music removing the drums? Or do they oppose the electronic music? I have not been able to pinpoint exactly what is considered offensive if anyone has any insights. Recently for instance I was considering the idea of surf rock, which is often instrumental. Also, rock has its roots in jazz, so did the Church oppose jazz music? Some have also said that rock is non-Catholic, therefore if non-Catholic music is to be avoided, this would also include classical (which is often accepted by trads as "ok" music). This leaves basically sacred music for mass and gregorian chant, Christmas carols. In any event, I have not been able to identify where unacceptable music starts and ends and this has definitely stained musical interests. I do recall the tango dance was condemned as too sensual, though that could fall under impure contact and movement of bodies.
anyway, here's a spooky Chant of the Templars:

I sing (a voice major as of last November) and I've been singing for a very long time. A recording, I guess? I also play piano abhorrently. orthopapist, most classical music is actually very Catholic, believe it or not. Classical just refers to the period between 1750-1820 where Mozart, Beethoven, etc. lived and worked. It's probably during this time that the most religious music was composed. Even before him, there's a LOT of Catholic music from JS Bach, Händel, etc.

My family and relatives wanted me to become a professional singer since I was little... I never went through with it though because of all the danger and immorality that generally comes with the job for young women now-a-days... Instead, I direct our chapel's traditional choir! So, I guess some good came of the gifts God has given me.
