I post the following to help the reader grasp the law of the Church in regards to when a religious must divest his property prior to making solemn vows in a religious order. The law is clear that property cannot be renounced until the time period within 60 days prior to solemn profession, in religious orders (which includes the Benedictine order). I am not by this conceding that the Dimond organization is a real Benedictine order, but as they assert that they are, they must follow the laws of the Catholic Church, which they had not done in this case (linked HERE )Religious orders are forbidden by law, as is clear from canon 581, from taking the property (of any sort, money, stocks and bonds, etc.) until 60 days prior to the solemn profession.
