Mine have not come up either. Oh, so there may yet be hope? All of the other bulbs we planted came up so quickly. Probably. This is a later year for many people due to the rain and cold. Last year I was convinced I had done something wrong with my gladiolus, it turns out that they pretty much shoot up an bloom overnight.

I weeded the squash. I'm not sure why, though. The vine borers found them and it's only a matter of time now...
I also rescued the herb garden from the crab grass.... for now. The stuff never goes away.

I did a walk through to see how everything is doing. The broccoli is pretty well over for the summer and it looks like we'll be having fresh green beans for the first time this year, tomorrow. Something is eating my eggplants...

Last night my husband and I spent about an hour together rescuing our strawberry patch from weeds. The patch was in a sad state, but it was nice getting to work side by side with him. We don't get to do it often, but always have a good time at it when we do.
We have been eating greenbeans, potatoes, cucumbers and zucchini from the garden. And cooking has been fun and flavorful with fresh herbs.

I was picking squash the other day and I came across a scallop squash that was suppose to be a lemon squash. A stray seed must have made it's way into the packet of seeds. I was happily surprised and cooked it the next day. It is now my favorite type of summer squash. So delicious. Sorry lemon squash, you lost your place in the garden next year! www.rareseeds.com/white-scallop-sq/Bush beans are already done for the season, and so are cucumbers. We are picking peppers and tomatoes now. And squash.

I picked from the garden tonight what I will be nourishing my family with tomorrow. Beets, zucchini, lemon squash, scallop squash, spaghetti squash, purple pole beans and a variety of sweet peppers.

we've been eating a lot of fresh veggies: tomatoes, zucchini, beans, peppers, eggplant, broccoli, chard, onions, and some raspberries. I won't be preserving an abundance this year but it's been fun.

We're preparing the garden for next year- putting out out compost, cover crops, etc. We've also steadily been collecting fall bulbs and will plant those soon, as well as thinning and transplanting various bulbs and rhizomes.
