That's a lot of strawberries, Rita! Our beds aren't big enough to get that kind of volume yet, but eventually. So far we have frozen some strawberries, and I have a dehydrator full drying tonight. Tomorrow I'm going to try my hand at fruit leather, and perhaps the next day I'll make some jam. Next year, since we'll have more strawberries, I've already decided I want to make some strawberry wine, and also see if I can come up with a decent strawberry rhubarb concentrate. Sorry about your roses.... Thanks, Jen! Strawberries spread like weeds once they are happy in a garden! We had only 40 plants a year and a half ago, and now there are thousands upon thousands!

Lately we've planted some pole beans and summer squash, transplanted herbs and have done quite a bit of mulching and weeding. I've made it part of my morning routine to take a short walk through the garden with a basket and a pair of sheers and pick what I will be using for the day. Lately it's been quite a few herbs, some strawberries and rhubarb, broccoli and various greens.
We've been trying to expand our palate and have been adding some, what you might call.... heirloom greens to our salad. Apparently daisy leaves were very common to eat not so long ago, as well as borage. They are both actually quite tasty in a salad if used in moderation, as their flavors are very strong. The borage tastes like cucumber. I've also been putting borage in my drinking water throughout the day. It's been fun!

It's been so wet, I'm scared to take a look outside tomorrow.

We have been busy. We planted tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, beans, corn, beets, zucchini, squash and pickles. We also mulched the raspberries, tomatoes and some other plants. I finally had enough lettuce to eat some. The kids have been eating a lot of strawberries but I don't have enough to freeze yet. I would be posting more frequently but our computers had some woes.

We planted it because it supposedly adds strength, vigor and flavor to other plants in the garden, particularly strawberries. Later on we learned it has a much more broad, impressive reputation including being a good companion plant for repelling harmful insects, a flower highly favored by bees, and a great nutritional profile. It's also been said that once you plant it in your garden there will likely never be a need to plant it again since it so readily self sows. That could be either good or bad. I should also add to consume it with caution when nursing as it could cause problems with milk supply.

You've been quite busy! Maybe in a couple months we'll be swapping recipes as we reap a good harvest! Computers. You love them and you hate them.

Same here, Jen. I still have herbs to put out and I am facing a really big setback that happened this week.

Weeded the Mary garden. The calla lilies never came up. I'm sad about that. They were my Mother's Day preasant.
