I'm at work so I can't post pictures but we have 2 de-clawed sisters, Reesie Cup (a tortie) and Cotton Blossom (white domestic long-hair). We adopted them when they were 8 years old, they're 14 now...
And my daughter has a small white bunny with black markings. His name is Hops.
We used to have a corgi named Penny. She died 7 years ago and I still miss her...

For those of you with de-clawed cats---have you ever been sharply criticized by anyone because of it? I certainly have!

For those of you with de-clawed cats---have you ever been sharply criticized by anyone because of it? I certainly have! I adopted them when they were 8 years old, they were already de-clawed (so I have plausible deniability). I dislike the thoughts of de-clawing cats but I enjoy having de-clawed cats. I guess I'm a hypocrite. But I'm happy that I don't have to get upset when they go over and scratch at the sofa.

We have leather furniture. Also my mom who is in her 80's lived with us for a year when we first got them and her skin is fragile due to age. We live in a condo so the cats do not go outside. They are perfectly happy cats as far as I can tell and eat canned food and whipped cream dollops every day.
But I do miss watching a cat with claws prowling and frolicking outside.
We had 2 indoor/outdoor cats when we first moved out here (Seattle suburb in the mountains) but they both got eaten by coyotes.

My husband was never interested in having pets of any kind, except the ones that put rib eyes and pork chops in our freezer . Thne, one day, as is to be expected when one lives in the country, we developed a serious mouse/rat problem. A stray cat showed up and solved the problem, and husband has been a cat person ever since . I'm glad, because I am more of a cat person, too. When we moved to our current home, we got two barn kittens; sisters that we named Leisel and Brigitta. Leisel is solid black and Brigitta is gray, with dark gray stripes, and she is the fatter of the two. Excellent cats. Great mousers, and great with our children. They quickly became family favorites. Once, Leisel caught a rat, and brought half to me on the back door step, and half to my husband on the seat of his tractor.....I guess I'm glad she was loyal??? Anyway, a couple of years ago, my husband - despite really not being a dog person - caved to the kids pleas, and let them adopt a stray that found us. I was at the grocery, and he called me and said, "hey, can you get some dog food?" Me: what did you do?! So, we acquired Jack. He was a black lab mix, but we had no clue of his actual background. He was actually a great family dog. Super gentle with kids, and did not bark at all. He needed training, though, and it wasn't something I could really provide. he chewed our bikes, shoes, chairs, everything....and, he liked to roam. Even though we have 18+ acres for him to live on, he would constantly run off to the neighbor's and bother them. They complained, so we had to keep him pinned up all the time. In the end, we decided he just wasn't a good fit for us or him. We couldn't let him roam, and he was miserable being locked up. We let him run in a nearby field. He is happier as a free spirit. In the meantime, the cats hated us for getting Jack. They abandoned us for a long time . Brigitta came back, and she is now happily queen of the yard again, but we've never seen Leisel again.

My husband has a black lab, Ellie, who is a very friendly dog and only barks when strange vehicles come up the drive. We also have an indoor/outdoor cat, Spotty. She is an excellent hunter who doesn't get pet enough.
