It's a day of fasting and partial abstinence(?)... Does this mean I can have meat for dinner?

The eastern rites...stricter again...no meat Can only have two smaller meals that do not equal the main meal, all Lent long. The Ember day fast is the same as the Lenten fast. It is also four times per year. I think if the Church had not suffered in the 60s the overlap of Lent and the Ember Days might have been slightly altered during Lent, but who knows.

The eastern rites...stricter again...no meat In the Eastern Rites... You don't have meat at all during Lent, except Sundays, right?

It is not as strict as I had thought! That sounds easier to work with. I always thought that there was a "black fast" in the Byzantine where you didn't eat at all Friday after 3 pm until Easter.
