I didn't realize you were expecting...congratulations! When are you due? January. It's a long way out yet! This ones due date is just days away from our first daughters birthday. So for a few days each year, they may be the same age! I think that's so fun, lol. Irish twins!

Irish twins! I had never heard of "Irish twins" until you mentioned it here! I told my husband and he seems pretty please with the term.

You sew! That is great! I haven't met too many other people who do besides me! If I could go back in time, I would tell my younger self to do more sewing as a new wife. I enjoy sewing, and I have the know-how, but with littles around, I simply don't have the opportunity all that much anymore. I wish I had honed my skills more, when I had the chance, so I could sew faster. I see people online make a skirt in under an hour, which would take me atleast twice that time, because I don't have enough practice. Sewing is a lost art....hopefully I can successfully pass it on to my girls, and maybe one day sew more for my grand babies I started to sew more through necessity than anything else, as I can't afford to buy skirts except at a thrift store... I guess that one benefit of my still being single is that I still have the time to learn what I can about sewing, cooking, etc, to better prepare me for the future.

I have been making most of my own skirts for the past 5 years or so, but for some reason I have a hard time following a pattern, and find it easier to follow an idea in my head... I do sort of what you do with the triangles. I really like A-Line Skirts! I have a hard time with patterns too. If I do use a pattern, it's just to get the main pieces. I don't follow the technical information because it would take me too long to make them that way. My sewing skills are pretty basic, but they are sufficient. Maybe a thread with sewing tips, tricks and pics should be somewhere in the near future! I like A-line skirts too. The trinagles are so easy, and so flexible, too. With them, you can make the skirt as full as you'd like. It sounds as if we really have a lot in common with our methods of sewing! And having a sewing thread would be a GREAT idea!

Im gonna have to see if Proboards has some kind of testosterone plugin...NO SEWING THREAD!...Just talk about sewing in the arts and crafts or catholic familys etc. Its getting a little out of hand around here!

Vox, I smoked bone-in pork shoulder last week, and two family packs of chicken thighs today. I used my portable thermometer that I got for my birthday. I smell like smoke. We also put up a screen house on our deck this week. I drilled holes in the bottom of my strawberry bed with a drill. A drill. I also laid grass seed, went to Lowes, bought a saw and another tool thingy. A cutty-cut...pruning tool! That's it!

I hunger to revisit my art (painting) but will not do so until my priorities are under control -- in my case, clutter. Taming my clutter is my current project. I shall endeavor to do so artistically until I can return to true art. My wife is having amazing success with a book called spark joy. Its a bit zen but the author is Japanese...I have seen it really give my wife confidence in attacking clutter...she knows to filter any zen nonsense...and she really is very happy and productive attacking years of clutter. But she only has ONE child and she's under 1yo ! However I do like her approach of thinking from a positive perspective about what it is you want to keep rather than from the negative perspective of what can be gotten rid of.

My wife is an empty nester...the spark joy book is helping her to get things in order after years of the chaos of young children (sweet chaos to be sure) we spent time getting her pantry the way she always wanted but couldnt do because of more pressing cares of homeschooling and childraising.

I'm tiling (not tilling) my basement floor. This is my first floor tiling project. I've tiled a wall once before, putting small back-splash tiles around the kitchen cupboards. Floor tiling does not seem to be very difficult, so far. The biggest challenges seem to be laying out the starting lines and dealing with the uneven concrete floor. I'm 90 tiles in and done with the most uneven part of the floor, so I think it's smooth sailing from here, unless I didn't layout my starting lines right. There are two sections of my basement, totaling ~670 sq ft. My goal is to get the 400 sq. ft. of the first, most finished, part of the basement done in the next couple of weeks. So much for goals. I have all the tiles mortared down on the first section of my basement, but only 40% of that is now completely finished with grout and sealant. Fortunately all I really have to do is grout and seal the other 60%. The project has been both easier and harder than I expected. It's not as complicated as I initially thought, but more laborious than I thought it would be. A few tips I've learned: do some back stretches before starting, wear knee pads, and wear a glove while spreading the grout with the float (blisters).
