So as all of you probably know Teresa of Calcutta has been declared a saint. A family member recently sent an email celebrating this new "saint" which I think she was just instigating since we don't normally talk much and she knows how we feel about the NO. So I wrote back and said, "I hope she's a saint but she probably had to spend quite a time in Purgatory for her 'I love all religions' commment." I haven't heard back yet.
What should I have said? If I would send her an article she wouldn't read it. I've gotten to the point where their blindness is too much. I don't know how I can be charitable and a good example.

I have immediate family members like that too. I have learned over the years that their hearts are hardened so I just say a prayer for them and ignore the emails. Usually a reply to an email is not necessary unless they ask a question.

You can say something like...she may be a saint but we need a Pope to proclaim her such

There's nothing you can say, unfortunately. She's on an ever-lengthening list of people that are shining examples of what a Novus Ordo 'saint' is.

On first glance, I thought this was in the joke section.
I've read some very serious accusations that she was very fake and much of her public persona was staged. I'd like to see more evidence but I do know that she had exorcisms done and that is scary.

Usually a reply to an email is not necessary unless they ask a question. I agree with this, and it's generally what I do as well. There are times when speaking up is good, and there are other times when it truly is no use, or even damaging. It's a fine line to walk sometimes, and I still don't have it figured out very well.
