Please pray for my wife who is suffering great depressions and dispair and under the strong influence of a doubting demon. She was spiritually abused as child by a pathologically pessimistic...self pitying...hypocrite of a father who gave her no reason to hope as a child. Who destabilised her innocence by ever complaining....taking the Lords name...and just being miserable. Her name is Marlene and I love her to her bones but I cannot break through to her.

Praying for her now. BTW, if she's a reader, she might find comfort and strength in some lives of saints who were mistreated in their youth. St. Stanislaus Kostka and St. Bernadette Soubirous come to mind.

The mistreatment was not obvious but psychological.

in other words this is my theory...she does not necessarily see that he is/was the problem.

Prayers for you and your wife. And if you don't already I recommend the daily Rosary together.

Prayers for you and your wife. And if you don't already I recommend the daily Rosary together. I wish I could get her to do so. If she doesn't like the Rosary, just sit by her and hold her hand and you say it quietly. It's only about 18 minutes.

Hold my hand?....again...I wish What about saying the Rosary during a time of the day that you know she'll be around, and can see you praying. Maybe one of these days she'll decided to join you if you keep at it long enough?

Maybe one of these days she'll decided to join you if you keep at it long enough? Right, she's sitting on her recliner reading a book, you just sit on the sofa and say your rosary quietly. After a while you'll see a change (probably in both of you).

She was raised to feel uncomfortable with public displays of affection and piety.
