Thank you, Voxx! You have made me feel a lot better now! Some traditional Catholics are so strict! It is for reasons like this that I generally do not go on other forums. Thanks again! :-) You are too kind. They aren't strict, they are proud. We all have pride, you just unwittingly gave such people the opportunity to expose themselves. It's an ugly face. Rest assured that there was nothing wrong with what you shared. Some people will find scandal in anything. My natural inclination is to further annoy them so they will want to stay away from me. You are nicer than that. Thank you, Clotilde! I try to think the best of everyone, but sometimes it is hard...

btw...Im very much aware whoever else may be following this thread that these opinions leave me open to charges of liberalism. Being Catholic means everything in moderation. Thus, perhaps, we can say that those are truly Catholic are those who find the proper place between being too strict or liberal?

I may be driving to Carolina soon for vacation...are you between PA and coastal carolina? Sort of... It depends which road you will take. We live in Front Royal, VA. Looking it up should give you a pretty good idea of whether it is out of the way or not. Are you going to the Outer Banks? It is one of my favorite carolina beaches!

I wish I could meet you both! Back in the day before FE went south and I was a member there, I was seriously considering arranging a meet up in a central location and a lot of people seemed to be showing interest in it. I dropped that ball when I stopped posting there though. I do often wonder what it would be like getting together with all the "regulars" here. I think we'd have such a good, refreshing time! Wishful thinking, I know.

on a secular level....Is Shakespeare Catholic? There are those who make a good case for him being so. The Quest for Shakespeare being one book on the subject. I long had my own suspicions that he was but am not a scholar able to support my opinion

Which side of the U.S. are you all located? You know what might be an interesting thread? " I am traveling to such and such an area... Anyone know any traditional Catholic whom I might visit when I am there?" Every time I see people at our chapel I want to walk right up to them and say, "Hi! Welcome! Where are you from and what is your story?" I have to be careful though, for some people tend to find that a bit unnerving!

I am curious about people as well, and so much enjoy getting to know them. Some people, as you say, get a bit unnerved by it, others are happy to have the ice broken by someone. I know when I first started going to the parish that we're at now, I was so overwhelmed with not knowing anyone- I was really happy when people approached me to visit. It took me awhile to feel comfortable during the social times after mass. Now my husband has to pull me away if he wants to get home at a decent time on Sunday. I'm in Southeast Kansas. People rarely just "pass through" my neck of the woods, unfortunately.

Want to feel awkward? Walk into a Ukrainian Parish out of the blue...especially if its full of actual Ukrainians.

We stop and visit people when we travel! If we can ever get our basement finished, we are hoping to make it into a nice guest room. However, if we have more adventurous guests, there is a place nearby with yurts. I feel your pain jen51, we live in an area that is off the beaten path too. People come this way but only if they are vacationing.
