Is it proper to Tradition to observe the lenten fast on Sunday in Lent? In the Roman Rite, there is no obligation for fast and abstinence on Sundays, but of course you could voluntarily do it. The Byzantine Catholics begin Lent on the Monday before Ash Wednesday and do count Sundays as part of Lent, as far as their fasting/abstinence laws go.

Im aware of the eastern rite...its on Wed and Friday fast and abstinence. Theres no abstinence on Sunday as far as Ive ever known in my life? The calendar would show a fish.

Which points out a dilemma I have in that Ive been practicing Roman Catholicism but my birthrite is Ruthenian. Since I have access to a TLM and the Eastern rites are becoming more polluted with feminism thanks to bergoglio influnced Bishops Ive just been following the Roman Catholics. I get confused when there is overlaps or a prohibition in one rite but not the other. What am I bound to? etc
