Can anyone post, with a source, the pre-Vatican II fast and abstinence laws for Canada? I know that the US bishops approved our laws in the 1950s but I cannot seem to find what I want to know regarding Canada. I also know that the 1917 Code left quantity and quality up to local custom for the universal Church so that there were no more weights/measurements required for collations.

I asked around, but the only response I got was that the laws were the same for the USA and Canada.

Hello, According to the Marian Missal with an Imprimatur of Jan 6, 1960, by L. Suenen svic. gen, fasting days for Canada are:
"all days in Lent except Sundays, the Ember days, the Vigils of Whitsunday,of All Saints, of Immaculate Conception and of Christmas Day."
"Abstinence days in Canada: the Ember days, the Ember Days, the Vigils above mentioned; the Wednesdays of Lent; Holy Saturday forenoon; all Fridays, except Days of obligation."
Holy days of obligation in Canada are: "All Sundays. The Circumsicion, Jan 1. The Epiphany, Jan 6. The Ascension, All Saints Day, Nov 1. The Immaculate Conception, Dec 8." Christmas Day, Dec 25.
Said Missal also defines what is meant by fasting and abstinence in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand, but does not mention anything for England, Ireland, Scotland or Canada. If anyone needs more info from the Missal, just let me know. I hope it's acceptable to post this as a guest.
