Is bishop Taylor valid? His ordinations and consecration? Welcome to the forum, Mark! 😇 Bishop Taylor's ordination and consecration have been a topic of concern for traditional Catholics for many years. My previous confessor, Father Collins (RIP), advised not having anything to do with him or Bishop Sebastian regardless or whether they might be valid or not. They are part of the "Old Catholics" line who rejected Vatican I and were excommunicated even before Vatican II. And the group I believe eventually went to allow even women priests...

I honestly do not believe he is and there is no way to verify anything because those who could answer those questions are dead. I would only stick to priests with clear lines such as the Lefebvre lines or the clear Thuc lines (there are some there that are too confusing, although I do not doubt Thuc’s validity). Don’t forget it is both the ordination and the episcopal consecration of every person involved in a line that comes into question. This is only my personal opinion, but I believe we should avoid his lines because we cannot know for certain but also, many of the men in those lines had zero training from not only the Church but at all. We simply cannot support everyone who wants to go and get ordained, even if valid, because they will go to almost any means to do so, even if that means through stolen holy orders from sects. If we keep looking the other way, they will continue to do this and it can be argued that it is harmful to souls because these men are essentially playing church and presenting themselves as clergy of the Catholic Church.
