Hello,
My name is Shaun and I am struggling with my faith. I am interested in Traditional Catholicism to help right my ship. I am very interested in Apostolic Succession. I am wondering if there is a good source that explains Traditional Catholicism and how I improve as a Catholic.
Thanks

My next question is can a Novus Ordo married man ever become a traditionalist priest?

My next question is can a Novus Ordo married man ever become a traditionalist priest? No, this is not possible. You may find a few examples here and there of some independents that have done this, but as far as the groups, which is most of traditionalism, it doesn’t happen. The only married priests you will find that have valid orders and use the ancient liturgical rites are the eastern rites of the Church.

Welcome! I'm sure that if you ask questions or discuss that you will find people here are more than willing to point you to good resources. As a general rule of thumb, if you come across any Catholic books published before the Sixties, you will find good, solid Catholic information.

If its not, too personal a question, what brought you to where you want to take the faith seriously. For me it was my marriage and my first child.

Well I am married and just adopted my daughter. I am an adult confirmed Catholic but I have never felt fully involved in any church. Traditional Catholicism has always called/intrigued me since I found out about it. I was exploring the priesthood with my local diocese before I met my wife. I never lost that feeling.

Traditional Catholicism has always called/intrigued me since I found out about it. I was exploring the priesthood with my local diocese before I met my wife. I never lost that feeling. Churches, as a place, are an odd sort of thing. Being involved can be tricky because oftentimes a social hierarchy sort of sets itself up. The same people end up doing everything, and it can be hard to find your place. That can happen anywhere, work, charitable organizations, etc. I have often been frustrated in the past at not being able to use my gifts and talents to help with certain things. In the Latin rite we don't have married priests, as they do in the East, but there is no shortage of things that Catholic fathers and husbands can do own their own if their mindset is to be involved with their fellow Catholics. I'm assuming that you are coming from a place where you want to help and assist other people. The other side issue at some traditionalist mass centers is that many people are driving a great distance to get to mass and then they have to make the same trek back home. This makes it very difficult to pool resources and do things as a group. Increasingly, many men do not have a 9-5 shift with weekend off, either.

I truly wish there were married priests in the Latin Rite. I'm one that is lucky to be Monday through Friday. If I was going to associate myself with a traditional church it would be Shrine Of Fatima & St Cajetan in Weekie Wachee Florida. I know the woman that is helping running that church with Father Eugene Wright, who is an amazing priest. I am having difficulty though going to Mass since my wife will never be a participating Catholic. That church needs help and I agree that many people do travel long distances to attend. I guess I am being selfish by constantly referring to becoming clergy but I truly feel the call. I find it ironic that I feel the call yet don't go to Mass.

The call is not just a feeling. And if you are Married THAT sacrament is as important and sacred as the Holy orders in a sense. And with Children you become the Priest (symbolically) of your home.
