In my 31 years of life I have somehow escaped being responsible for cooking the turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. I know nothing about cooking turkey. I'm rather intimidated by it, in fact!
I'm hosting thanksgiving this year, but luckily my MIL is bringing the turkey. I bought one just for us, though, and it's sitting in my refrigerator waiting for me to cook it. I've read some recipes online, but would like to hear what you have to say about your favorite way to cook a turkey.
Im nervous!
If it turns out well, I'll post pics!

For quite a few years now, I've been splurging on a free-range organic turkey. These cook faster and are juicier. They also seem more forgiving of the sort of errors a distracted cook makes. I don't do anything special to it.
I think if I had to work with a conventional turkey, I would brine it first, but I have never actually tried this so I don't know how hard it is.

I think I've only cooked one store bought turkey, ever. I didn't do anything special. Rubbed butter and seasonings on it, put it into a roaster with a tight seal and cooked it till the popper popped. It was good.

I cooked it and it was.... alright. I was going to brine it but things got pretty busy and I dropped the ball on it. I used butter and herbs and roasted it for a few hours. The stock simmering on the stove, however, smells as though it will be excellent.

I was reading about it and my chicken has come out better with dry brine so I thought why not try it and compare.
