Thank you for the welcome. I have completed the whole circuit of Catholicism and have been involved with every group from Novus Ordo to Sedevacantism. I also have come into contact with home alone Catholics. I have come to the conclusion that in the traditional Catholic movement each group is problematic and that the SSPX has it's problems but at the moment it is the least unhinged.I do lean towards sedevacantism but I wouldn't step foot in any of their Mass centres ever again. It has been traumatic to witness the corruption and tyrannical behaviour that we witnessed. It has affected myself, my children and my husband. I am trying to detox and get back to the basics of the Faith. I came across your forum while doing a search and I was attracted to the honesty about these groups which was so refreshing. Looking forward to being accepted as a member and getting to know you all. Keep up the good work. God bless.

Not all sede chapels are bad but I have had rough experiences and almost gave up hope in all of them until meeting the now deceased Father Joseph Collins. So I can relate. Keep fighting the good fight and may God bless you!

I think the corruption is characteristic of human weakness and also the heresies that many sede groups have fallen into. There is a reason why they have the correct diagnosis, but God doesn't give them miracles and at least part of it will be these. Ironically, they can recognise the problems in other groups e.g. Palmerians but not their own. I think the Eastern Rites are our best bet right now. The Syromalabar Rite looks to be the least problematic.

Hello! I’ll just say that all groups and even some pockets of various rites have their problems. You just have to do what works for your family, although being cultish and sectarian never works, no matter how beautiful a non-canonically erected chapel may be.
We go to CMRI, two other Eastern rites, and sometimes SSPX. I don’t mind these situations where we live but they can be vastly different in other places.

No problem. Good to be here. I had originally put Winnifred as my user name when applying and wasn't able to but then could when I was accepted and logged on.

The Syromalabar Rite looks to be the least problematic. John Lewis , The Syro-Malabar have been in a civil war for some time now between the liberals and conservatives. If you have a conservative priest to go to, you will be fine, but be careful of the liberals. The rite that I think is the best out of all of them, as far as being less problematic is the Syro-Malankara, also from India, but significantly smaller than the Syro-Malabar, probably only one tenth of their size.

Looking forward to being accepted as a member and getting to know you all. Keep up the good work. God bless. Welcome to the forum. On this forum, you will find a blend of Catholics here as far as some who go to sedevacantist chapels, some who go to SSPX, some eastern rites, some independent chapels, but all on here hold the sedevacantist position, not because we mandate it for membership, it's just that this forum is a place for those who hold the position but think for themselves and don't uncritically accept the group think so common these days. It's important to realize contrary to the teaching of many sedevacantist bishops and priests, that holding the sedevacantist position doesn't mean attending mass at sede chapels. I'm sorry for what you went through, and if you are willing to try another chapel without these problems you mention, you will get good advice here on how to do that and avoid that happening again. I will say in fairness that there are some sedevacantist priests who work with CMRI and are good priests, who don't pretend they have authority. It's a messy situation out there, so everyone must be careful, especially when you are bringing children to these groups/chapels.
