Thank you so much for the thread. Sorry I am a bit new to the site. Still learning how to navigate it. Random silly question. Is the Church and absolute must for salvation? Can virtuous Orthodox or Protestants be saved?

Can virtuous Orthodox or Protestants be saved? Hello Victor and welcome to the forum! Your question is certainly not silly, it's a very deep topic that entire books have been written about. Could I ask you to read this document first prior to discussing it, linked HERE It will take you no more than an hour or so and the precision in this document will give a very succinct answer to your question, especially in light of the teaching as given by Pope Pius XII in Mystici Corporis.

Thank you so much for the thread. Sorry I am a bit new to the site. Still learning how to navigate it. Random silly question. Is the Church and absolute must for salvation? Can virtuous Orthodox or Protestants be saved? Every one can be saved as long as they live...but only if they enter the Church and are in a state of Grace before dieing. Consider Noahs Ark..God instructs Noah on how to build it and why its being built. Noah warns the people around him. No one heeds his warning except Noahs family ( 8 souls) and they ENTER the Ark...God closes the Door behind them and seals it. Only those 8 humans were saved. This is a foreshadowing of the Church to come. Outside of the Ark you drown and die...Outside the Church you die in your sins and drown in them ( rough example...but I think the point is made.

Is prayer to Mary essential to Catholic worship? Is it also okay to pray to God directly or is it better to go to Mary and the Saints?

Is prayer to Mary essential to Catholic worship? Is it also okay to pray to God directly or is it better to go to Mary and the Saints? First you must pray to God for the grace to direct your steps to the True faith. If you would agree that having me or other friends pray for your progress in the faith is a good and effective thing...well how much more to approach the Mother of God requesting her help and prayers? Im a sinner...shes the Queen of Heaven. We do not worship the Blessed Virgin. We give her Great Honor and love...following the example of Her Son Jesus. Remember no human could love Mary more than Jesus Did

Is prayer to Mary essential to Catholic worship? Is it also okay to pray to God directly or is it better to go to Mary and the Saints? Hi Victor, I missed this post from before. It is fine to pray to God directly, but there are very good and beneficial reasons to pray to Our Lady and the saints to intercede to God for us. Our Lady, Mary, is critical to worship, as Our Lord has elevated her to His Queen in Heaven. If you had to beseech a king for a favor, and were able to ask someone close to him, such as his mother, for your request, rather than yourself, wouldn't it be better to go to her, who would give anything to his mother?

Can a Catholic still have their sins forgiven if they don't have access to a priest? Like if they committed a mortal sin and was stranded on an island would they be damned?

Can a Catholic still have their sins forgiven if they don't have access to a priest? Like if they committed a mortal sin and was stranded on an island would they be damned? If a person had perfect contrition, and also desired confession if possible yes. But for most such is not easy. So, if available, the Sacraments are definitely preferred and necessary.
