The following are some notes I have about the episcopal consecrations of Bp. Williamson. Some are certain, others appear likely but are not confirmed.
Bishops certainly consecrated by Bp. Williamson
Bp. Faure Consecrated by +Richard Williamson Date: Current location: France
Bp. Thomas Aquinas Consecrated by +Richard Williamson Date: Current location: Brazil
Bp. Zendejas Consecrated by +Richard Williamson Date: Current location: USA
Bp. Giacomo Ballini Consecrated by +Richard Williamson Date: Current location: Ireland
Bishops that are thought to have been consecrated, but are not yet publicly confirmed.
Bp. Michal Stobnicki Consecrated by +Richard Williamson Date: Current location: Poland
Bp. Paul Morgan Consecrated by +Richard Williamson Date: Current location: England

What on Earth is this man doing? I've met +Williamson and been to some of his conferences (they generally seem good, though with the odd caveat), but why is he consecrating so many bishop, and secretly too? One of the criticisms of him by the SSPX-MC lot is that he doesn't seem to have ordained many priests in ten years or so since he left the Society, yet we have all these episcopal consecrations.

Is it appropriate to use the word "succession" in the title of this thread? The number of bishops being consecrated and their locations is very interesting new information for me.

John, I use the term, "episcopal succession," to describe precisely what is happening in this situation. Episcopal succession is not the same as apostolic succession, as episcopal succession is merely the transmission of orders, so there is truly a succession between the man consecrating and the other man receiving the orders. This is exactly what Bishop Williamson, among many others, are doing. I posted this a while back in the resource section, which explains the term and how the term differs from apostolic succession:

One of the criticisms of him by the SSPX-MC lot is that he doesn't seem to have ordained many priests in ten years or so since he left the Society, yet we have all these episcopal consecrations. In my opinion, it comes down to two things: 1. First the easy one, it's practical. He getting older and most likely will not be too much longer for this world, so he's providing for Catholics in case the SSPX goes off the rails, which he clearly believed they were close to doing a few years back. Also, the Covid lockdowns demonstrated to the world that our freedom to move about is not as secure as many may have thought, so it would seem practical and reasonable to be certain that sacramental bishops are present in many different countries, to continue providing the sacraments. Lastly, even though Bp. Williamson is not an anti-sedevacantist, he does not, in my opinion, think well of the sedevacantist groups, so he is giving an alternative for many Catholics. 2. Now, for the theological justification. If the traditionalist theological response is actually correct, that in an "emergency" such as ours, that a bishop may according to his judgment ordain men to the priesthood and consecrate men to be sacramental bishops, then it would seem reasonable that if Bishop Williamson is convinced that if this need exists, and has found suitable priests, then according to this line of thinking he would be acting correctly. Why should a sacramental bishop limit how many new bishops he consecrates, so long as he sees the need, and he has found, in his judgment, suitable candidates to become sacramental bishops? This has been the basis of the traditionalist theological response since at least the 1980's. It's the same justification used by Archbishop Lefebvre to consecrate him and the others in 1988. This theological reasoning has no boundaries as far as how many bishops may be consecrated, as everything relies on the judgment of the bishop as to whether more bishops are needed. Btw, I am not arguing #2 is actually correct, I am only answering the question of why +Williamson is doing what he is doing, in my opinion.

Pacelli, I wasn’t at all interacting with the SSPX when this resistance group started. Could you please provide some background to what is happening here?
