I am looking for advice/ guidance on Traditional Family Life.
I am a mother and wife that is blessed to be able to homeschool my 6 children and live near access to the sacraments and a good traditional community. Recently I have been feeling very overwhelmed with life and quite sad. We struggle financially and with health issues so it seems we can never just 'be'. Things that are simple for others are often complicated or stressful for me as we have a lack of money and have been this way on / off since we started our family 11 years ago. Something as simple as not being able to buy shoes clothes food study books when we need is taking it's toll when trying to run the family home. I don't know if I am maybe burnt out from how long this has been happening but any tips/ prayers or even to know this is something I am not alone in this would be appreciated.

Faith sister...you are not alone...the road is weary many times. The biggest factor in these feelings is believe it or not Resentment..either open or secret resentments tap our grace and can cause depression. I know you will say " I dont resent..." but trust me if you take a moment before praying and examine it you will find its resentment. This doesnt mean your evil so dont condemn yourself if you discover its true. If its not that ...make sure you are making deliberate time for rest and relaxation and wholesome fun...this is NOT a luxury but an absolute necessity. This is seperate time from the children. Yes we can have fun with our kids...but if they are involved in your R&R they will unavoidably bring some stress.. no..take a break and do it dilligently...its just as much a duty to your family as anything else you do. My2cents...God bless you...reach out to Mary most of all.

Your story is very similar to so many others, so don't feel alone. Many traditional Catholics live in our near poverty and suffer financially from their choice to follow Our Lord and have all of the children that God gives to them. The cross is only getting harder, not easier. FWIW, we are living in highly unusual times, with no historical precedent to learn from, so the best I can tell you is to stay strong in your Catholic Faith, go to mass as frequently as possible, pray every day, most especially the Rosary, and follow as closely as possible the inspirations that God gives you to guide you through our times. Lastly, watch and pray, as our times are getting worse, not better, so be very careful so that you are not deceived.

Hello, homeschooling mom here too. It’s pretty normal to have less energy and have things wear on you. If you are feeling depressed, see if you can talk to a priest about feeling overwhelmed. I’d recommend making some new friends or trying something new, it doesn’t have to cost anything but something to break up the monotony. When you feel like you are tempted to worry or feel bad, just try to put your time and energy into something, anything to distract yourself. It’s okay to take time off from homeschooling or to slow the pace down too. Obviously, prayer, offering up sufferings, and the sacraments will help too, but I just assume you are already doing those things.
