It is the end of the Christmas season. How about some ideas for making it special?

At our local chapel they have the blessing of candles on this day. In the past I have had to work and not been able to make it. But, it is on a Saturday this year, and a First Saturday to boot (my husband and I are trying to make 5 consecutive First Saturdays together). So, I think we shall be able to make it! It is SO NEAT that the Church has special prayers just about every day!
Also, since February 2nd is the final day of the Christmas Season, we sometimes have a final Christmas celebration and the next day take down all the Christmas decorations. :-)

Our chapel ended up having a blessing candle ceremony and a High Mass afterwards! It was SO neat! Especially as we don't have high Masses very often! I didn't know until we showed up today that it would be happenjng because I forgot to get a bulletin last Sunday. 😋

I would have liked to have had a little celebration. We went to First Friday Divine Liturgy and sang some carols. I think that will have to do. I just have to rest up but I at least meditated on the Feast. There's always time for that!

Before Mass I put away the last of the Christmas decorations. Mass was at my least favorite venue, SSPX; it's close by, and I wasn't willing to make the long drive to my usual chapel two days in a row. The priest did the lovely blessing of the candles and gave each of us one. At the end of the Mass he announced that if we wanted to keep them we had to put a donation in the collection on Sunday to pay for it. I was a momentarily irked, but obeyed and returned the blessed candle.
Then today at my regular chapel I was able to purchase 6 blessed candles. Am considering using them more often, instead of saving them for emergencies.
