I say the morning and evening prayers from my Fr. Lasance missal. At one point it instructs you to say that you will take every opportunity to gain indulgences for the poor souls. I've yet to make a resolve to do so, mainly because I have not endeavored to learn how. What are the most efficacious means of gaining indulgences for the poor souls? Bonus points for references.

I wish I knew. If a more knowledgeable Catholic could offer some insight, I would be grateful myself.

Every time we pass a cemetery we say "eternal rest grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them, and may all the souls of the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God rest In Peace . Amen. We also include a prayer for them in prayers before meals, and after our family Rosary. These are all habits for us, but I was wondering about certain indulgences prescribed by the church.
November, the month of the Poor Souls, is coming up, and I'd like to be prepared this time.

Thankyou, Pacelli! I'll look into the free one for now. Can't wait to look it over!
