Ok so last week 3 of us who attend an independent trad chapel were conditionally confirmed by Bishop Dolan since our Novus Ordo confirmations are considered doubtful.
The sweet little nun in charge of things forgot to ask who our Confirmation name saints were until the very last minute. 2 of us chose saints who were confirmed by post conciliar popes however mine was beatified by Pius IX . My friend's was beatified by John XXIII (a questionable pope). This all slipped by unnoticed since the info was obtained at the last minute. Neither of us even thought about it until we were chatting and I looked our saints up after the Confirmation was over.
So are Blesseds ok for Confirmation?
And do you think a John xxiii beatified Saint is ok?

P.S. I chose "St." Margaret Clitherow the 'pearl of York'. She was an English martyr so I feel pretty good about her saint status.
My friend chose "St." Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Did he just mention "Margaret" and "Elizabeth"? If yes, you're probably fine. If not I am surprised the bishop didn't notice. Don't know what to say...

As long as it is a Christian name it doesn't matter, truthfully.

I once asked my father (RIP) if he named me for St. Barbara. My mother was protestant. He said that I was named for one of his former girlfriends. ! Regardless of the intention, I proudly claim her as my patron saint.

My parents named me after Myrna Loy a famous movie star at the time of my birth. Anne is my middle name and my patron.
My confirmation name is Ruth.

My mom, a Baptist, is named Barbara so I've always asked St Barbara to pray for her. And today I went to a Catholic store to buy green scapulars and my eyes landed on a St Barbara movie which was out of the budget but I bought it anyway and I'm just sitting down to watch it before I send it to my mom who will hopefully be able to figure out how to get English subtitles to work on her DVD player. How's that for a run-on sentence.

I loved Myrna Loy in that movie where she works as a nurse for cholera patients in India and falls in love with the Indian doctor and then accidentally drinks cholera tainted water and dies. It was probably best that she died before she committed adultery with Tyrone Power.
