Some may recognize me from elsewhere. I've used one version or another of this handle for years.
I am at a crossroads spiritually. Currently SSPX sympathetic, with a generally favorable view of the so called "Ecclesia Dei" fraternities, orders, and groups. I'm planning on visiting a local Ukrainian Catholic church after encountering Western rite Orthodoxy (I found it wanting) and want to discern the possibility of switching rites. Given how big a deal that is, I am not close to a final decision yet.
God bless.

Welcome Tradne.
The owner of this forum is a Ukrainian rite Catholic, so you have come to the right place to get help and advice.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I should mention that my crossroads are a three way split. I already mentioned switching to the Ukrainian Church, and also am considering remaining at a TLM parish (FSSP, usually among the finest preachers out there) and attending an Anglican Ordinariate parish (my town has a lot of good options). The Ordinariate interest was sparked by my brush with the Western rite Orthodox whom, like the Ordinariates, have in most places a liturgy that is based on an older version of the Book of Common Prayer. I might open up a thread on this stuff (as a general topic, not pertaining to my situation, which I feel better handled by a priest) later.

The Anglican Ordinariates are actually part of the Catholic Church. They are also called "Anglican Use" parishes. Obviously I neither approve of the Orthodox as such nor the sham that is the "Western rite" connected to them.

It's perfectly fine. The new structure for the Anglican use parishes is only a few years old and not really on most people's radar.

I was in touch for many years with a family that attended the Anglican use, they did for some years and switched over to the Ukrainian rite. They have been there ever since and it has been good for their children.

Good thing that misunderstanding got cleared up.
There used to be an Anglican Use parish near me and I attended a few times. It is much better than Novus Ordo, but I did not like it as much as the TLM. But it is designed for Anglicans who become Catholic which is not my situation. I might have liked it more if I were the "target audience".
Harlequin King still posts occasionally on Suscipe Domine. If you start a thread here about the Ordinariate, we should invite him because this is an area of interest for him, as I recall.

I am anxious to learn more about the approved Roman Catholic Rites not that I am searching, I am perfectly happy with my Catholic group. I just like to learn as much as I can, especially in these times of apostasy.

I am anxious to learn more about the approved Roman Catholic Rites not that I am searching, I am perfectly happy with my Catholic group. I just like to learn as much as I can, especially in these times of apostasy. The Anglican use was approved under Ratzinger. So, to a sedevacantist, this would be an unapproved rite. Secondly, the issue that a sedevacantist would have would be ordinations. I admit I don't know much about that but if they are getting them through the Roman rite, that's another issue. I'm not saying it couldn't ever be done by a pope to bring in a whole group, the accessory issues in the Crisis present a problem for the sedevacantist. Sorry, Tradne, to spoil your intro, we can always start a thread but I wanted to clarify this from the start.
