Classic. So, from the very beginning Zeno coveted overcoming covetousness, right? I guess in a way you are correct. But is it wrong to covet a virtue? Probably not, but maybe it was an inordinate desire for the virtue for Zeno to think he could not possibly already have it without experiencing temptations against it, and to choose to tempt himself, instead of trusting that God would've allowed Zeno to be tested in this way if He thought it was good to do so. Instead, Zeno decided he needed to tempt himself. Would Zeno also try to assure himself that he had the virtue of chastity in a similar way?

This story actually has its root in a traditional Desert Fathers legend about two monks who agreed to posses a brick to test their virtues. But as to your point...some virtues such as Chastity are of a different kind and of course no such test could be used. And Yes zeno was foolish in a way to create the test...but they are simple monks under authority...living alone together in a Desert. Im sure when they went to confess the whole thing their Superior chastised them for attempting such a foolish thing in the first place.

Terrific! Where would you like to publish it? I dont know... any suggestions. I think it would make a good young readers story book. Maybe even a series featuring Zeno and Demetri Yes, a book of short stories (and a series of books) sounds very interesting. You could go with a publisher or self-publish. Either way you wind up doing your own marketing, really. You could look into a company called Smashwords, and Amazon also has a self-publishing program. My suggestion is to look into the myriad ways of publishing (even audiobooks) while you are writing your book, so when you are ready to publish you know what you want to do. There are small Catholic book publishers, too. I like self-publishing because authors often wind up signing away too many rights on their work, but I wouldn't steer anyone away from traditional publishing if that's what they want to do.
