Yes. I bet you go around hugging trees when no one is looking. na ya can chop as many as you need...trees are good for what you can make out of them....but torturing helpless baby cows just to get tender meat seems lascivious to me. would Francis of Assisi approve? I do not like factory farming. Animals are created to sustain us but I think we need to be conscious of how we raise them. It is not ok to torture animals, make them live in deplorable conditions and slaughter them in inhumane ways. On top of that, too may diseases run rampant in the factory type conditions (as they are unsanitary) and then they pump the animal full of antibiotics. They also give these animals growth hormones, which then gets passed onto the consumer. I feel the same way about slashing entire ecosystems (forests). The animals that live in those areas were created by God too. There is a reason why they are on this planet. Human greed is destroying this Earth. Maybe that is to be expected...but to see hundreds, thousands of dead animals, killed for nothing but their horns/tusks, makes me ill. I don't think this makes me a hippie.....

I don't think people realize how much Catholics are like hippies and liberals in some ways. We do have a lot in common superficially. It's just that we have morality to guide us.

Anchovies. I'm not a fan of any kind of red meat but I eat it anyway. Cover it with chocolate and I might even eat the anchovies

Describe to me even the small scale version of "making" veal. There is pastured veal these days that is fed it's mother's milk. There are varying degrees in feed practice but if you Google humane veal, you will find articles about the practices specific to each farm. There is a lot of difference in recent practice compared to a calf being stuffed in a pen and fed chemicals, which is gross.

Well seeking "humane veal" seems like something a liberal would do...lol Just kidding...but ya if I could find humane veal I would eat it...because veal is delicious!

They were created to be food so I have no problem with raising them outside with clean food, clean water, and sunshine. A quick dispatch is essential. I avoid CAFO meat as much as possible.

I just oppose the practice of chaining them in a box so their muscles dont develop...thereby getting tender meat. It sickens me to think of it. Im no PETA nut...I am for the moral and compassionate treatment of creatures. Simply out of amazement at My Gods creation. I dont even like killing insects (well except mosquitos and horsefly) unnecessarily. I have this saying...its easy to smash a spider...did you ever try to make one?

The only thing I can think of that I wouldn't eat except for in famine was organ meats. It's too bad, too. Organ meats are packed with good nutrition. There are few things that I would eat when served while visiting someone's house as to not be rude, but you won't find me eating at my house: lamb, anything seasoned with caraway, plain milk (I drink it frequently, but has to be blended with something), plain beans, fish with skin still on it. I'm not picky. There are a few other dishes running through my mind, but those are very out of the ordinary so not worth mentioning. But to give you an idea of what I'm thinking.... blood pudding. If cooked right, organ meats are not too bad... I just don't know too many people who can do it properly though... One family I knew made liver taste better than steak!

I have found that anything that is cooked properly can usually be palatable for me... Sometimes is takes awhile to find a good recipe though... But, when push comes to shove, I really don't like raw meat foods too much; like sushi or steak-a-tu-fe (raw hamburger meat with spices). Also, I lived with a family for a couple of weeks who ate food from dumpsters, and I am not too fond of that. We each were given a half-gallon of melted ice-cream for lunch one day, and I couldn't get myself to eat ice-cream for quite some time afterwards... (I learned how to cook, fry and eat rattlesnake while with them...Exciting stories there!)

One family I knew made liver taste better than steak! I'm almost always willing to give something another try. I'd give that a try. Potato salad is always such a popular side dish at get togethers, I was always sad that I didn't like it. I tried it once every year for many years. One year I suddenly liked it and have ever since!

It's weird how your tastes can just change like that, isn't it? I used to hate mayo, but during my pregnancy with my oldest son, I craved it....so strange. I now enjoy it. Go figure.
