Nate is an agnostic. He is currently in ICU after very serious cancer surgery and is not recovering well at all. He's been there over a week.
Prayers for a spiritual awakening as well as a healing. I am spending as much time with him as possible.

Prayers for him (and you!). Can you get a blessed green scapular into his room?

Last Tuesday he coded and was placed on a ventilator. I performed an emergency baptism because I thought it was the end and at that point he couldn't give consent and His life was in imminent danger.
After he was stable and on the vent--his doctor asked us if we wanted to keep going or let him go. He's only 33 and thought he'd be back at work by now---so of course we said Keep Going!
He came off the vent today and is able to talk a little but is very weak (barely able to stand and can't walk at all). He almost succumbed to post-operative sepsis with Staph aureus after a surgery to remove half of his liver due to cancer of the bile ducts caused by chronic ulcerative colitis.
Now the issue is a chest tube and 4 abdominal drains with massive losses of fluid and requiring constant fluid replacement. He is like a Bucket with holes.
I haven't really talked to him about the baptism. The staff let me in to do it right after the code and my sis and bro in law don't even know about it. They are all agnostics.
I also put a scapular around his ankle after I baptized him. He noticed it the other day and asked what it was---his sister rolled her eyes and said some Catholic thing from aunt Kim, do you want it off?"
My one glimmer of hope is that he didn't want the scapular removed.

Thank you for your prayers. He is finally able to eat after almost a month and is walking with a walker a little every day and talking a little.
And he is still wearing the scapular!'

I just now am seeing this thread... I shall be praying for his complete recovery if it be the will of God! Keep fighting and may God bless you, Kim!
