the fox jumped catlike to the top of the cage (approx 8.5 ft!) Then squoze through the roofline!

If we bury the fence a foot or so into the ground, would it stop them? Or will they dig as much as a foot and a half -- or more -- to get in..? You should be fine as long as the wire is a thick and tight wire. Using 2x4 boards in the corners and stapling strong chicken-wire to that often helps. We have a chicken coop like that and have never had trouble with foxes in it. Thanks for the advice, I'll keep it in mind when we arrange for it. Right now I'm daydreaming about having really fresh eggs!

Now I know to make sure the roofline is fully enclosed- and maybe a moveable chicken run that we can occasionally take to other areas of the yard when they need a fresh area. I was thinking about fencing the property perimeter with an electrified wire -- a tall fence. Still looking into options. Right now we are looking for land to buy~

Right now I'm daydreaming about having really fresh eggs! Fresh eggs are the best!!! Except if you are trying to make deviled eggs... Trying to make them with fresh eggs is tough because they don't peel very well. But, if you can stash the eggs away in your fridge for a week or two they should peel a lot better.
