Both my husband and I have recently been enchanted by the haunting melodies produced by the hurdy-gurdy, a medieval instrument. Check the videos out.
I jokingly told my husband that if he made me one of these I would become a proficient at it. I didn't think he'd take me seriously, but he's been making plans for one. It's quite exciting. We have a group of Catholic friends who get together around the campfire when we can and play music, especially Gaelic/Celtic music. This instrument would be a nice edition!

I used to attend our local SCA events and they had a man there who made these. Beautiful sound!

Wow! I had heard of them before, but never seen one close up! It almost sounds like a bagpipe!!! If your husband makes one for you, and you learn how to play it, you definitely should share some of your playing it with us!!!
