I have complained about this very subject in the past. I voted 'no' because I'm not hooked on technology...and have a surprising lack of sympathy for those who are; I'm big on personal responsibility.
<----- I like books~

My husband and I have dumbphones. Last week I forgot it at home for one whole day. It was almost like I had taken it.

I saw an ad in Parenting Magazine for one of these. It keeps your hand free. The ad actually said, "So you never miss a text!"

blech....mr mommmy image!....I vomit a little every time I see adds like that. 1)I think if they would have had a woman there would have been the reaction of, "Why isn't she breastfeeding!" 2)I'm really glad my husband uses the bottle for the babies when I'm gone. It's a lot easier to run errands without a baby in tow.

If he chooses to do so that is awsome...but it is not a mans place to feed the babys. And the photo and many other like it pander to the homo parents crowd. Its a fake breast to play the mommy in the couple. Gender role reversals are a scourge on the culture.

I can take it or leave it. Modern means of communication are a godsend for disabled or home bound. There is nothing wrong with the technology, just how people use it. Like most things, use in moderation.

I use a tablet too but I only use it where wifi is free, or I'm at home. I do not own a smart phone, but I'm also not one of those parents who needs scheduled quality time. I already spend enough time with my kids and we engage in many internet-free activities.
I do enjoy keeping in touch with people that I would like to live near but cannot. That is probably the biggest draw for me, if I had local friends or family, or even a few more kids, I doubt I would have time for the Internet at all. The important people in my life always have my attention first and foremost.
I will say that yes, sometimes I just want to relax and have some adult conversation, read an article, watch a funny video and do that for recreation. There are some people that think parents have to be involved in every game, every arguement--that they are the entertainment. Not me.

The invention of ebooks was already the stupidest thing ever. A book that takes batteries is already idiotic. Now I see people walking around with their heads in their phones playing friggen Pokemon and I just want to take every single one of their smart phones and break them over their heads.

I can't actually hold a book so ebooks and audio books are my only options.. library has such downloads so o don't even have to go there, brilliant in my opinion also great for teachers and college students my backpack would have been significantly lighter if I were a student after Kindles came into use

They've taken over all the parks. Then I see their kids trailing after them. What fun, right! I never knew there were such losers.
