A friend brought up a great thought. Maybe reasonable non dogmatic Catholics who hold the sede position need a new name? A sort of third positionist idea? First thing I thought of interregnum-ists?

I’ve heard us called Bellarminists, but I just prefer to be called Catholic.

of course were Catholics but thats the point...the opponants call us sedevacantists and non catholics. As if there really is a thing or religion called sedevacantism...seperate from Catholicism

I think Bellarminists is a good fit, but I'm not sure, maybe there is a better word. The one thing I don't want to be called any more is a sede, not because it doesn't fit, it's just that sedevacantism is now too associated with positions that having nothing to do with Francis not being Pope.

I was thinking "Truest Restoration". On a more serious note perhaps "Reasonable Catholics" or "The Bellermenites", that is all I have as far as ideas.

I think something needs to be done to seperate it from a theology or even a doctrine because its neither...yet its critics continue to conflate it to such to have their strawman to attack. Fact of the matter is at best its an intellectual construct or rationale.... How about Crisis Catholic as in...Im not a sede Im just a Catholic trying to make sense of the current crisis.

How about naming it after Our Lady, perhaps with a title from the Litany of Loreto? (in English or Latin) That would distinguish us as Catholics, without indicating a particular position.

Well I guess its like telling people your sede without telling people your sede...so your suggestion misses the point? No offense

I think that until we are blessed with a true future Pope, the best thing is not to confuse newcomers with too many names or politics. For this reason I don't usually even bring up sedevacantism and only answer basic questions about it as necessary...
I prefer to call myself a "traditional Catholic". This easily shows that I am not a supporter of the "new order" but that which is true and traditional without jumping into loops.
When people ask me where they can go to Mass I usually reply with:
Any traditional Catholic Mass offered by a validly ordained traditional Catholic priest who is not part of a heretical or Schismatic group previously condemned before Vatican II.
