How are you starting out?
I've decided to try, yet again, to teach my children hymns. I'm not musical so I get discouraged and never really finish.
We set up the Nativity yesterday and drew Christkindl names. I thought I had ordered a second set of candles for the Advent wreath last year. Turns out, I was not ahead of the game like I thought and they will be here Tuesday (yay, Amazon Prime).
Wishing you all joy and peace in your Advent preparations!

We got out the Advent decorations today; took all of 30 minutes. The kids like it. It's so funny how the toddlers react because they don't remember any or all of last year. I played some Advent music on the computer.
We have a Fontanini Nativity scene and a Little People set for the little ones to touch. One thing we are doing different this year is I have a little basket of cut up construction paper, about 400 pieces. Every time kids are fighting or I yell, we take out one piece and make Jesus' bed a little harder. I told the kids, "What better gift can we give Jesus than to try to control ourselves and get along a little better?" Last year we read the Bible everyday for Advent but this year it will be harder; our school load is heavy and the days are long. I'm going to try maybe at lunch time to get a little in.
A Grace-filled Advent to All!

I'm behind despite my efforts. I ordered candles 15 days ago only to find out today they haven't even shipped. I bit off more than I could chew designing and creating an advent calendar. It's not quite finished, but I must say it looks pretty nice, and we'll use it for years to come. We're doing a spiritual Christmas crib as well. We didn't really have a kickoff other than starting to do all of the things we'll do every day in Advent.

For the St. Andrew Novena, can we have more than one intention? I've heard people say yes and no. If so, I will put your son in my intentions.

Ive been praying for my son Joshua the St Andrew Prayer...Hail and blessed be the hour and moment...etc...for his healing from demonic influence and restoration of his faith. I know a man who's son stopped going to Mass so he started going to two on Sundays, the extra one to make reparation for his son. Eventually, years later, his son returned to the church and now goes to the eastern rite Masses.
