Well on the bright side, you have him where you want him. It's only a matter of time now.

I am currently away from home, but my husband said that he picked quite a few tomatoes yesterday and will pick a lot more today. He also said our first cucumbers are ready to be picked, and the beans are already ready to be picked again. I'll be busy in the garden and kitchen when I get home.

Tilled. Ate kohlrabi, peas, lettuce and strawberries. Weeded. Watered. I've never grown or had the pleasure of tasting kohlrabi. Is it good? I've always been curious about it.

You didn't ask me but it tastes like mild broccoli stem. I tolerate it with cheese sauce, personally, I am not wild about it.

I tolerate it with cheese sauce, personally, I am not wild about it. It looks like a young broccoli plant when it grows; the seeds look the same. It doesn't take up as much room as broccoli. You can eat it raw or boil it like a potato and mash it. I don't usually get to eat too much as my children love it. We eat it raw. I wish I had a whole field of it. It is hardy but a cooler season plant. If it gets too big it is woody.

Thanks for the descriptions Marya and Clotilde. Maybe next year I'll plant some to see if we like it. We always like to try a few new things each year.

It has been super busy at the farm, but I finally found time for the first time in the past three weeks to mow around my flower garden and bush/plants I planted last fall!
We have TONS of blueberries right now!!! We have about 15 bushes and each bush is about four feet tall and wide! If we all were not so far away, I would invite everyone here out to have a blueberry picking picnic!

Continuing to attempt to get bandit coon. Trap is hard to set just right...critter gets bait without dropping the weight. We have a family of coons and a family of groundhogs we are trying to trap and get rid of... Caught two so far, but that is only a couple out of several... It can be tough. Please pray we catch ours, and I will do the same for you!

The 3 tiny blueberry plants I planted this year died. What do you plan do do with all of your blueberries? Our blackberries are halfway ripe.

The 3 tiny blueberry plants I planted this year died. What do you plan do do with all of your blueberries? Our blackberries are halfway ripe. Well, we freeze most of the blueberries and then use them in smoothies, pies, fruit roll-up, or crisps, later on during the year. We have been trying to encourage other friends and family to pick some of them though because there are only 5 of us left at home now, and we don't seem to be able to make it through all the berries we freeze anymore... Blueberry plants need lots of acidic soil. So, we planted ours under a couple big pine trees. The pine needles fall down every year to help create the proper soil environment. Sometimes we get cedar chips to help too though and keep the weeds down.
