So far the only thing I've done in the garden today is to stroll through it to monitor growth. I may yet be able to plant some jalapeno's, blueberries and cucumbers. Our cucumbers didn't germinate well this year for some reason.
One thing I discovered while walking through the gardens is that the calla lilies are blooming! They're our favorite (because it's our wedding flower).

I trimmed back my tulips. I saw that something I planted is coming up but I'm not sure what, it's either a lily or hollyhock, I may have planted one more thing but I can't remember.

Very nice, Vox. When are you going to build mine?
Today, I had one of the kids weed the dahlia and gladiolus bed. I trimmed the viburnum and rhododendrons. I hope they both die, truthfully, but I don't really want to dig up the roots and I don't know what else to put there because they are in the shade. They are right up against the houseI cut branches off of a maple tree as part of my on-going effort to make more sunny spots in the yard. Yes, I know it isn't the time of year for pruning trees and but I wouldn't know what to trim otherwise.

We released some nematodes a couple days ago. We'll finish doing that tonight. Gave the whole garden a good drink yesterday. We are in desperate need of a good rain- city water just doesn't cut it.

We got a tiny bit of rain and it perked the plants right up. My dad told me rain is ultra productive when accompanied by lightning because of the nitrogen. He says all farmers know that, apparently.

I planted some onions and other stuff. I went out and looked for a tomato trellis and one for eggplant, but I didn't find any. I ended up buying some netting for the eggplant and the squash in order to make a trellis.

Oh, I also bought some clearance lily of the valley to plant under the pines, I heard they did pretty well under them.

We planted ours in rows, and put hog wire down both sides of the row, kept steady and tight with t-posts.

Yesterday, I had some errands I needed to run after Mass. When I got home, my husband had surprised me by putting up the cucumber trellisses. And, I checked out the rogue squash plant growing in my compost bin...lits gorgeous! I think it's a butternut. I noticed my cilantro and parsley has sprouted nicely, but my basil not so much .

Wow, maybe that would help us. We have quite a few wire worms and slugs and I often notice tiny little fleas flying around.

I bought more plants This is just getting addictive. I bought a few more eggplants because they looked really robust and mine looke like they may not make it. I also bought more chives, calendula, cilantro, and borage. Then, I decided to get a lilac, some bleeding hearts, and a grape vine. That's what I can remember, I might be surprised when I look at it again tomorrow. So, I will be planting more stuff after I send the dudes out to get more dirt.
