Lovely, Rita. I really like that blue flower print. I bet they are super pleased! You must be pretty quick. I think I would have to spend twice that amount of time.

I appreciate the encouragement! My fiance does not want to work out of home at all. So, I am thinking of making and selling skirts to make money on the side once I get married. I am thinking of offering to make them for people for $5 an hour when I have time plus the price of material. Then people may be more likely to ask for them and I figure it would be a good help to society also and not just about a project for money. I would love to know your thoughts.

I think your undervaluing your labor. Find an embroider and have a good amount of small labels made(at a reasonable price) with "Made by Rita"...sew them into your skirts. Soon youll be able to work from home and have a small but benificial to your new family business. One the pays guilt free more than 5 dollars an hour. The bible is clear...the worker us worth their hire. I think its wrong headed when people devalue their labor out if fear of seeming haughty or such. Skilled seamstresses are a gift from God. Yes you may help poor ladies by discounting or donating skirts...but every economically secure person should have zero problem and you should have zero shame in charging a fair market price for quality goods. Undervalued goods and services do not help families or society IMO.

I have thought it over more and what you say makes sense, especially since I am getting married soon and will not have as much free time. If figure if I charge $10 an hour plus materials, I can make a skirt in a couple hours, that will still be only about $30 including materials per skirt unless someone wants something more elaborate or more expensive material. The labels is a really good idea! Forgot how much I enjoy talking with all of you on here! It has been SO BUSY out here with trying to transfer all the duties of camp (explaining to the new employees what to do) and the wedding being in only a little over 2 weeks! I am hoping I will be able to get on more once things calm down. God bless! Rita
