There is a little known eastern rite that exists in southern Italy. It is a unique Byzantine rite, which has its own hierarchy, liturgy and customs. The entire rite consists of just about 30 villages in the Lucania and Calabria regions. In the late 1950’s, a doctoral student, George Nicholas Nasse, studied the Italo-Albanians and wrote a dissertation on his findings.
