Two books I have found useful because they add to the information in The Golden Arrow: but which I cannot add because they are too big:
1. Life of Sister Mary of St. Peter, pdf. revised and republished in 1884
2. Life of Leon Papin-Dupont, The Holy Man of Tours, published in Dublin in 1881
Both may be found online in pdf form. TGA is the Life of Sister Mary of St. Peter written in her own words. Much background to it is given in the Life of Sister Mary of St. Peter, 1. above. Leon Papin-Dupont was a lawyer who knew Sister Mary of St. Peter and who after her death kept a lamp burning all the time next to a picture of Our Lord, from the Veil of Veronica. The site become a shrine even during his lifetime and was the scene of many miracles. The Golden Arrow contains prayers of reparation and all the background to the devotion to the Holy Face revealed to her and through her by Our Lord. It is interesting to note that La Salette is related to reparation and to this devotion, and that Sister Mary of St. Peter was not the first Carmelite to receive information from Our Lord on reparation; in fact, shortly before Sister Mary of St. Peter was born, another Carmelite nun passed away, also living in France, who had been the recipient of information with this focus on reparation.
France was a focal point of appearances; later in the 19th century of course, came St. Terese of Lisieux who treasured her devotion until her death to the Holy Face. Spain was of great concern to Our Lord, too. He adamantly approved of the reforms brought about at great personal sacrifice and through the support of a close connection with Our Lord, in the Carmelite Order in Spain. Sister Mary was asked to pray for Spain in a special way detailed in TGA.
France was the scene of the French Revolution which was the basis for Vatican II in a broad sense opening the way for it.
The Golden Arrow is available in soft cover at a reasonable price. So is the following book, The Third Alphabet, which relates to Carmelite Saint Terese of Jesus because she herself would describe it as pivotal in her spiritual development.
That book is sure to be a stable and well-used addition to my library, as TGA has become. I was surprised to find it available since it was born in the 16th century; several editions came out during the life of St. Terese it seems. It is called The Third Alphabet. That appears to be the original title but I have also seen it referenced as The Third Spiritual Alphabet. I have ordered it from abebooks but it can be found like so much else, on amazon.
Here is a link giving an indication of what this book is about:
