Today is the 19th day and sedevacantists and traditionalists have not noted that Cardinal Luiz Ladaria s.j made a mistake in the question and answer session of the Press Conference on Placuit Deo.
Today is the 19th day and sedevcantists and traditionalists have not noted that Cardinal Luiz Ladaria s.j made a mistake in the question and answer session of the Press Conference on Placuit Deo.
He assumed Lumen Gentium 8 referred, to known people in the present times (2018).Even most of the Church infers Lumen Gentium 8 ( non Catholics saved with elements of sanctification and truth) refer to known people.
This was the mistake of the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on March 1 but it is also the mistake of Catholics in general.
If the sedevacantists realized that Cardinal Ladaria made a mistake it would indicate that they understand that there is no reason to remain in sedevcantism because of Vatican Council II.
Since Lumen Gentium 8 would then only refer to hypothetical people and so would not be relevant or an exception to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS).The dogma EENS says all need to be members of the Church for salvation while LG 8 refers to invisible and hypothetical cases. It is not an example of someone known who is saved outside the Catholic Church.
So Lumen Gentium 8 does not contradict EENS and the past exclusivist ecclesiology of the Church.
In principle, LG 8, LG 14, LG 16, UR 3, NA 2, GS 22 etc are all hypothetical cases, references to unknown people in 2018. So they do not contradict the Syllabus of Errors, Mystici Corporis, Quanta Cura and EENS.
With there being no known salvation, outside the Church, since this is not possible for us human beings there can only be an ecumenism of return. There is no known Anonymous Christian saved outside the Church over the last 100 years and more.
So Vatican Council II does not oppose Tradition and the sedevacantists have no reason to remain in sedevacantism because of a wrong interpretation of the Council .
Similarly people being saved with the baptism of desire(BOD),baptism of blood(BOB) and invincible ignorance(I.I),refer to hypothetical cases only. This is something obvious.
So when the Catechism of Pope Pius X, the Catechism of the Council of Trent, the Catechism of the Catholic Church(1994) and the popes and saints of the past mention BOD, BOB and I.I they are all referring to only speculative and theoretical cases.
So the Catechisms, Mystici Corporis, Quanta Cura etc did not and do not contradict Feeneyite EENS. They are not a rupture with EENS, as it was known to the missionaries in the 16th century.
So with this issue out of the way there is no reason for the sedevacantists and traditionalists to reject Feeneyite EENS and Vatican Council II.
So when Cardinal Ladaria on March 1 told the lady journalist of the Associated Press that Lumen Gentium 8 contradicts the Church's traditional teaching on it having the superiority and exclusiveness in salvation,he made a mistake in public.
This must be announced by Bishop Dolan, Bishop Sanborn and Bishop Marck Pivarunas and the sedevacantist priests.
They must also announce that Vatican Council II does not contradict Feeneyite EENS and the traditional teaching on the Catholic Church having the superiority and exclusiveness of salvation. The bishops need to apologize to the faithful for the mistake.-Lionel Andrades
