I'm sure we're not the only trad family that is broke and can't afford to go to the doctor or dentist unless the situation is dire. Better off anyway, I've lost nearly all of my confidence in Western medicine.
We use a lot of natural remedies around our house. Tonight I used clove essential oil to relieve my horrendous toothache. I also used peppermint oil on it. Yes, it really does work, and very well at that.
My husband used a mixture of tea tree, peppermint, and lavender essential oils this past week to get rid of a serious poison ivy rash. We also treated the rash with baking soda and activated charcoal. We were so pleased with the results.
I have some others that I'll post later, but just wanted to get the conversation started.
What natural remedies do you use?

I've used oil of oregano to get rid of a lung infection a couple of years ago. I got the lung infection from these stupid antibiotics my doctor prescribed. Oil of oregano has also got rid of a soar throat in two days.
I have COPD so I have been taking a mixture of 1/8th teaspoon of cayenne, 1/4 turmeric, 1/4 ginger, 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, a dollop of honey and two squirts of lemon juice in hot water every morning. It doesn't seem to be helping much lately though. Been short of breath and coughing a lot lately but I don't want to go to the doctor to have her prescribe antibiotics or something stupid again. Maybe I should try some more oil of oregano. Do you have any other remedies for the lungs?

For poison ivy I run a lukewarm bath and mix in a couple cups of oatmeal and swish it around. I have the child lay down and swish it over their body for about 5-10 minutes. The rash goes away. If it comes back in a few hours I repeat. I've only had to do this twice to get the rash gone! another natural remedy: I found wine relaxes me at the end of the day

Chamomile compress for clogged tear ducts in babies, or just massaging the duct a few times a day. Of course, elderberry syrup for anything cold or flu, the minute we see a sniffle, we all start taking it.
Most of the time this stuff is just a matter of waiting it out, no remedy or intervention really needed. The biggest thing is just being able to identify the problem and judge how serious.

Please go to the dentist and make the sacrafice. I have seen someone who developed an abscess and the face swelled up like a balloon.

The preventative bill ends up being cheaper than allowing it to get to an emergency stage and then dealing with it.

Do you have any other remedies for the lungs? Antibiotics can really mess a person up. They've messed with me as well. They've also been incredibly helpful to me. I only take them if I am absolutely desperate, and when I do take them I make sure to take probiotics and eat probiotic rich foods. I wish i could reccommend something to you for your lungs, but I don't have any experience with that. Sounds miserable.

Please go to the dentist and make the sacrafice. I have seen someone who developed an abscess and the face swelled up like a balloon. I made an appointment this morning. I can't get in until next Thursday, and that is just the consultation appointment. Who knows how long it will be until I can get it fixed. I'm pretty thankful for the clove oil at the moment. I've been reading a lot about tooth remineralization, and apparently it's pretty effective if you'reilling to eat a good diet and take the proper supplements. Unfortunately it is very difficult to remineralize a tooth that already has a filling, and I'm pretty sure the tooth giving me problems has a filling.

I'm going to have him try that right off the bat next time. Thanks, Marya!

Thanks Marya. Yeah a friend brought me two cigarettes he rolled with mullein leaves about this same time last year. He said that it would stop the coughing immediately. His father had COPD so he'd know. I had been using Hall's cough drops that had been working, so I still have those two mullein leaf cigarettes. I was kind of leery about using them last year but I wouldn't be now. I'm not coughing near as much today, still short of breath though. I'm thinking that it may have as much to do with allergies as anything. I have an appointment with a Naturalpath next Wednesday so we'll see what she has to say. What, you mean there's not 100% cure guaranteed at Voxxkowalski's Natural Dispensary?
