What are you making, or what are your plans?
I have to drag myself out to get a turkey next week, so my husband and I decided to buy two turkeys. I'm going to make one stuffed the traditional way, and the other, I will brine and put on the smoker. I will probably use my slicer and make sandwiches with some of the smoked turkey.
Of non-liturgical holidays, this is my favorite holiday because I like the challenge of putting a big meal on the table, the timing, and attempting to make it "perfect." It is sort of like the cooking Olympics.
I don't mind going to mass but sometimes that changes what can be made on a given day due to time constraints and travel. We are staying home and we won't have any guests this year. I was joking in a homeschool group that our house is a "safe space" for conservatives this year.

I'm making dinner here with my family. It will be the first time I if I remember correctly. I know one year we ate here but that was because we were really sick and I didn't cook anything special. We are having the basics: turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, dressing, gravy, dessert salad and green beans. It won't be a whole lot different from a normal meal really, except the big turkey. This week we are making sweet turkeys for a craft for school. We use gummy bears and mini marshmellows instead of gumdrops. iheartcraftythings.com/apple-turkeys.html

I guess I'll make squash and pumpkin pie, too.

We are having a couple of friends over. Nothing big. Ours will be much like Marya's. Turkey, stuffing, and a few other sides. We'll have wine, tea, and mulled cider. I'll probably make pumpkin pie and one other dessert that I have not decided on yet. Maybe a cobbler with ice cream. Our friends are going to bring some traditional Indian food, mainly because my husband has never had it. It'll be an.... interesting combo.

I've taken two Indian cooking classes this year and I'm making Indian tonight.

I had a boss that was Indian, and she would invite all of her employees over once a year to extravagant traditional Indian meal that she would make herself. It was always something to look forward to. Puts American food to shame, IMO.

Same here. I have eaten Indian food only twice in my life. Once in Cardiff, Wales (they have a huge Indian population there) which was very much curry and the other a professor from India had us all to his house and his wife cooked. I remember it was delicious.

We really don't do a lot in my family because most of my mom's immediate family lives outside the US where she was born. Attempted to go to Walmart the day after and instantly regretted it.
Christmas is a bigger deal here.

Many things are considered curries and they vary from region to region. I had a yellow curry (which was Thai) years ago and I always thought I didn't like curry. I made Vindaloo today and it is considered a curry but does not have curry powder in it, though it probably has many of the spices in curries.

All of my family members who lives at home besides me are going out west to visit my brother Peter's family for Thanksgiving, and also my grandmother who has come down stage two kidney failure. I have to stay home to watch the farm...
So, I shall go to the 9 am Mass at our chapel, sing with the choir, and then maybe meet up with some of my married siblings' families.
It is funny... My mother is making a Turkey up today with all the fillings because she will not be able to make it when they are on their trip! ;-)

Not sure if it will be at my house or at in laws yet. We'll see what the weather brings.
