I haven't got to that point in the book, yet, but of course all books like that must be taken with a grain of salt. It's not the Bible, nor a binding Church document. Perhaps she was advised poorly, or something. Or, maybe it was very subtle sarcasm? I'll give her the benefit of the doubt . A close relative of mine asked her traditional priest about speeding, and he basically said it is not a sin, never mind a mortal one. Of course, in a high people traffic area, that would probably be different, since that would be recklessly endangering the lives of others. But, I certainly don't sweat it when I speed.
