By men I mean husbands.I actually enjoy cooking...and from what I hear I'm good at it. But does that feminize me? Only if you wear a pink apron. I don't see why cooking is considered women's domain. Most chefs and bakers have been men and I'm inclined to think that men are better at cooking and baking than women. It's a great hobby. It keeps you busy and you can make something and feel satisfaction about it. There are not many useful skills where you can have such quick results. There is a certain degree of household planning that usually falls to the wife and maybe that's why it is viewed as feminine by some. But they are wrong and probably eat their steak well done. Who does the cooking in a marriage should be settled on an individual basis by the couple. One of my hobbies is smoking meat. More men smoke than women. My husband will help me check on it, or help with planning what we want to eat. He's happy not paying $30 for a plate of food; I'm happy making him happy. I haven't taken up watching NASCAR or weight lifting so I think I'm safe.

By men I mean husbands.I actually enjoy cooking...and from what I hear I'm good at it. But does that feminize me? I do not believe there is anything necessarily wrong with men cooking or that their regularly doing it makes them femenized. My father cooked all meals on Sundays to give my mother a break from doing it all week. Men often grill food, which most women would not even consider doing much less consider feminine. I made my dad a BBQ apron for Christmas. Never would it have crossed my mind to make one for a girl or for my mother. Also, in public settings men usually are the head cooks. There is no shame in being a chef. I have know some of the most manly men I know to go to French chef school, cook squirrel stew, and who know how to cook some amazing foods! So, if you like cooking, DEFINITELY go for it, Voxx! I am sure most wives love having a little help or a break from cooking from time to time. 😊

I don't see a problem with it as long as it doesn't impede your other husband/father obligations. I know many men who are excellent cooks. Most of the world's top chefs are men!
My husband hasn't cooked a meal since we've been married, but we both agree it's probably best that way!

Husbands should ABSOLUTELY cook regularly. Both sexes should, especially because constantly going out to eat is completely unjustifiable in this country; it's far too expensive and far too expensive to eat WELL.
Just noticed this thread as someone who's new to the culinary arts...

I'm not married but if that day comes, I have every intention on doing some of the cooking, especially on the grill. I love it and don't really see it as work even though it can be depending on how many are eating. I grew up grilling and my dad has a small BBQ trailer made out of an oil drum. We cooked a lot of boston butts over the years using wood and charcoal. its a great time and people always enjoy it.

Men need to know how to cook as an essential life skill. Widowers tend to suffer a lot more than widows when it comes to general health (if they survive the first 12 months) because they don't know how to take care of themselves.
Wives do their husbands a favour by requiring them to know how to prepare a week's worth of recipes for balanced meals so that they, their children and their wife can maintain their nutrition if their wives are incapacitated for any length of time or God forbid, they pass away. If you have a body at some point you need to be able to cook proper meals.
