I've never been a consistently highly active forum member on any forum, but this is the least active I think I've been. All areas of life have been very busy for me. The biggest factors that have made the past year different are an increased number of home projects since moving in the fall of 2017, a new baby this past July, and dealing with religious strife and discord among family. With regard to the latter, I deliberately tried to avoid forum activity, so I could put all my energy and focus toward the cause of that strife and discord.

this thread makes me feel bad...it sounds like a real complaint...Im sorry...I am very happy with our forum activity or no. No worries, Voxx! Don't feel bad! We are all just happy to be able have a friendly place to share our thoughts and concerns with friends when we have the time. And that wouldn't have been possible without you and your work here! We are all VERY grateful and maybe us making excuses is just because we wish we had more time to be here more often. 😉

I’m pretty new to here. Just saw this thread and thought I say hello. Honestly I’m not great at writing things and fb is not my thing but it’s nice to meet like minded people.

I know.
I have just needed to put time in for face to face friendships I have made so we can have some local contacts and the kids could make some friends.

The things I want to post have high levels of sarcasm and are therefore dangerous to Americans.

If you look at growing an audience from a business perspective, i.e. how to grow. You need one of several things. First you need to either get more strict Traditional Catholics, like yourselves, or you need to tolerate people with differing opinions.
Strict Trads are typically not big internet users. About 10% of the Trads I know post to forums, not including the Trads I know because of Forums. The vast majority are Americans. Between the mentally unstable, the trolls, the lonely, you end up with a pretty toxic soup to moderate.
A homogeneous group tends to make for rather boring discussion (we agree with each other on 99% of stuff). A hetrogeneous group is difficult to moderate, and people today are very emotional.
Facebook is a wholly different structure to a discussion forum and Catholicism pervades ones life far more than cross country running or cooking or an interest in cars. State a strong opinion or personal preference on other topics and people tend to be more tolerant.
If I was running a forum, (not something I would ever want to do), I would make a section on media, music, films, entertainment, homeschooling materials and homeschooling idea, YouTube clips, car reviews for large family cars, parenting advice. This would attract a new audience of Trads and conservative Catholics that would not usually post to forums and some of them would be drawn to comments sections.
I would ban discussion of fake moon landings, flat earth and other loony ideas. I think they damage a forum more than they attract an audience.
But Trads are hard people to do anything for. I have been one for 40 years and they are very hard to consistently please and very easy to piss off and have them turn and attack you. I ran the most succesful SSPX Youth Group once in the 1980s and it was growing like crazy. With that growth it got noticed and then the compliants came in and within the first year it was shut down. Not by the youth it was benefitting, but by adults 30 to 40 years older who were not even the parents of the teenagers who were coming along.

Well certainly Building 7 collapsed in a very suspicious way.
But I doubt we will ever know the truth.
