It's still Christmas-time, so it works I registered not sure when, but I think it's been a couple of months ago. I've been pretty busy, sorry. I don't really know what to say here. I forgot where I even heard of this forum, someone told me about it somewhere online (either on another forum or Facebook). I'm a newish Catholic. From Easter 2017. I became a Catholic in the Novus Ordo and attended their church for a year and 3 months to be exact. So, 3 months of being an actual catholic was in the NO. I couldn't stand it, ha. I'm not trying to be rude, just it wasn't my "cup of tea". I love traditional things anyways, so I found out about the Latin Mass from Facebook, oddly enough. I'm happy I found out about it though. I go to the tridentine Mass. I'm in love with it, it's pretty hard to be a traditional though. I hardly have outside of the faith people talk to me about it, I only had that when I was trying to become Catholic. I have mostly people from the NO that talk down to the Latin Mass, shame and pretty sad really. I tend to get pretty defensive about it. I have a few FSSP, SSPX and CRMI friends on facebook, but a few of the ladies that I hang out with at Church are FSSP and they all like the SSPX Masses. They are pretty traditional in liking only Latin Mass and sticking with older teachings. I just felt like being in the English Mass church was almost too similar to my protestant roots and I started to nitpick and complain too much. I'm slightly still stuck in that life too, I try not to be, but it's there. I love to learn about the History, catechisms, traditions (of course), Church fathers, saints (it seems like a lot of saints has gotten demoted over the years and there isn't a lot of people that know of the lesser known saints). I just love learning about just about everything. I tend to have a ton of questions as well, so sorry in advance. Some people love that I love to learn and ask as many questions as possible and others don't like that I ask that many questions. I guess basic information would be nice. I'm 34 years old, single never married, no children. I don't really know what I want with the marriage thing. I think it might be nice, just I'm scared of that too. Having a child then the guy drops out, amongst other things. I have thoughts of becoming a nun too. Just I don't really know where to go from there. I'm trying to work on myself, trusting God and overcoming sins of course. I try to be open minded, so I'm cool with questions, if you have any. I became Catholic by my Dad's passing on Pentecost 2015. I think he was helping me become Catholic. Though he left the church in the 70s for reasons I'm not really sure about, but he got with the wrong crowd and started to become anti catholic. I was pretty anti catholic myself growing up. I would jump around churches and dabble in things that aren't good for my soul. I have a pretty dark background. I don't know what else to put on these things. I'm better with Q&A instead of "so tell me about yourself" that's so broad of a question and answer. Note: I don't really know that much about these forums, so please be patient

"I hardly have outside of the faith people talk to me about it, I only had that when I was trying to become Catholic. I have mostly people from the NO that talk down to the Latin Mass, shame and pretty sad really." Good morning and welcome. Here I think you have touched on one of the bigger crisis that has occurred in the last 20-30 years. I would say that when I was protestant, one of the biggest things for me was the fellowship. Towards the end of my time in Protestantism, I think the only thing that kept me around was the fellowship, because the theology was a disaster. Therefore, as a protestant, it was very easy to just find a "good" church with lots of bells and whistles and think all is right with the world. Anyway, once I left, and returned to the Catholic Church, the fellowship aspect has become my toughest sticking point and very hard to find. I first attended a very large N.O. church, but even given it's size, it was the normal race out the door by people to beat traffic, not stick around for the final blessing, etc and there was no fellowship. I later on, (because of other reasons) settled on a small Ukrainian Rite Eastern Catholic Church. There is attentiveness throughout the liturgy, and nice fellowship, but we are small, maybe 25 max people on a Sunday. However, our priest has to serve two parishes, so he can't really stick around. Either way, you made a very pertinent point, but one in which I've given a lot of thought about as to whether why this is or isn't such an important thing for me at this point in my walk. Finally I'd just like to say I think this is why these forums exist, because there are very few in society that even want to talk about the faith or be educated about it. "I tend to get pretty defensive about it." Understandable, I do too. However, I remember what it was like in the attacks I faced when I left the church 25 years ago. Strangely I find it returned almost immediately when I came back home and once again had to face up with Protestants, but this time I returned educated. Now I know what their biases are or will be and I too get this way. Ultimately, I've tried to work on the fact that we need to have Charity. We have found the true faith and we need to be gentle with people about it. "I just felt like being in the English Mass church was almost too similar to my protestant roots and I started to nitpick and complain too much. I'm slightly still stuck in that life too, I try not to be, but it's there." Can you tell us more about your protestant background and growing up in it, etc? What do you mean by "stuck" in that life? "I love to learn about the History, catechisms, traditions (of course), Church fathers, saints (it seems like a lot of saints has gotten demoted over the years and there isn't a lot of people that know of the lesser known saints)." The more you study the early church, the harder it will be to have any Protestant attachments, because they don't reside there. Decades ago, I had a fundamentalist keep telling me, "the more I studied the Bible the harder it would be for me to remain Catholic." At that time, I didn't realize it was because they were "sola scriptura" and used the "bible only" to say one couldn't find every thing taught in the Catholic Church there. Fast forward 20+ years later and when I started studying the early church and reading the fathers, I found out the truth that one could not find the Protestants there. Now, I use this same advice to Protestants when we talk. I advise them to go read the early fathers and that they will see there are not any Protestants there. Keep studying! You will see the real church when you are there and who was in it. "I tend to have a ton of questions as well, so sorry in advance. Some people love that I love to learn and ask as many questions as possible and others don't like that I ask that many questions." Ask, we will do our best. I do not have any authority, just my understanding and reason. However, this does beat Protestantism, because I am not trying to make a definitive of the fact I make the decisions like a good Protestant who thinks they have the authority. Additionally, I think this is part of the crisis, unfortunately. The sheep have been left to wander and we have to trust Christ and the Holy Spirit to lead us to remain in the truth established by the Popes and Fathers of the Church. "He left the church in the 70s for reasons I'm not really sure about." How old was your dad when he left the church? Many who left in the 70's that were old enough, did so because of the changes from Vatican II and did not like the changes and beat feet out of the church. Little did anyone realize what was starting with he crisis regarding this. I am not sure why he left, but he may have been like myself and many others, in that his leaving was partly because of his decision and partly because the Church had changed so many ways, especially catechizing the faithful that we were left sitting ducks once the anti-Catholic crowd came attacking. However, his hard work and labor did pay off (much like I think my mother's did in a silent way) and you found your way back. Blessings be upon you.

Welcome. Please don't apologize for asking questions. I have lost count of the number of times I have been edified by the questions of someone new to Catholicism and/or tradition. These often seem to lead to some of the best discussions. Perhaps it is something about the perspective of new people.

Welcome to the Forum, Butterfly3! I do love butterflies!!! So, we are bound to get along rather well!!! My fiance converted to the novus ordo about the same time you did, but was also frustrated with it and decided to become a traditional Catholic about a year or so ago. He was very discouraged by all of the bickering between different groups and confused in many ways since none of his family or friends were able to support him in becoming a traditional Catholic. So, I truly understand where you are coming from. We are all here for you if you have any questions, just need an outlet and someone to chat with, or anything else! Keep fighting the good fight and may God bless you! Sincerely, Rita P.S. Which part of the US are you from?

Welcome to the forum. Always remember, it's who you are today that matters, not your past.
This is a good and friendly forum to learn and discuss your Faith, so you have found the right place to ask questions or just converse with other Catholics.

I feel terrible I've not been on here in years. Well, I think lately we've all been busy. I ended up moving around in Catholicism. I am more leaning towards what the sedevacantists believe in. I just want the old tradition what the older generations used to and sometimes still does talk about if you ask. At first, I feared it, because of the NO. Which that is not cool at all. So, I feel lied to and just a lot of mixed feelings towards all that. So, yea I have quite a few more questions now, ahha.
